- On February 11th, 2017, numerous outlets began reporting that refugees are crossing the border from the US to Canada in light of DT's executive ordering banning travel to the US for visa holders from 7 majority Muslim nations.
- On February 11th, 2017, South Dakota lawmaker Wayne H Steinhauer helped kill a bill that would guarantee workplace accommodations for pregnant women such as bathroom breaks, water, and seating, saying, "It's not prison. You can quit."

At a news conference shortly after, standing beside Prime Minster Abe, DT stated that he and Abe-san were having a wonderful time but did not mention the situation in North Korea. Shortly after they were dismissed, the press pool was called back, so DT could finally make a statement on North Korea's missile launch. Prime Minster Abe made most of the statements, with DT simply stating that the US stood behind Japan "100%."
